Randall L. Ard, 26, of 4850 Silo Road, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with second and third degree domestic violence for allegedly assaulting the victim while she was holding a 2-year-old child and putting his hand around the victim's neck and pushing her sometime between Saturday and Monday. According to a news release from Sumter County Sheriff's Office, Ard also broke a victim's cellphone and spray painted vulgar graffiti on and inside the residence. He is also charged with receiving stolen goods for allegedly possessing various household items, a stamp collection, collectible coins and photographs valued at about $4,000 belonging to the victim while in the 4800 block of Silo Road on March 26. The items were discovered after deputies responded to the domestic dispute.
A black Kindle Notebook valued at $150; four diamond stud earrings valued at $200; three diamond rings valued at $200; a large diamond ring valued at $900; a ruby ring valued at $300; a Florida State University class ring valued at $250; Navy Federal Credit Union checks; the title to a BMW vehicle; and a driver's license were reportedly stolen from a residence on Morgan Avenue between 10:30 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. on Saturday.
A Total Gym exercise machine valued at $1,500 was reportedly stolen from a residence in the 4800 block of Silo Road on Thursday.
A black 42-inch Hisense TV valued at $350 and two black 50-inch Hisense TVs valued at $350 each were reportedly stolen from an apartment unit in the 4600 block of Blanche Road on Thursday.
A dark gray 2004 Chrysler Concord valued at $3,000 was reportedly stolen while it was parked at a grocery store in the 400 block of South Lafayette Drive about 8 a.m. on Friday. According to an incident report from Sumter Police Department, the victim told law enforcement that he left the vehicle running while inside the store.
A gray 1998 Dodge Ram truck containing approximately $500 in assorted tools and $200 in clothing was reportedly stolen while it was parked at a residence in the 200 block of Armstrong Boulevard between 8 p.m. on Saturday and 7 a.m. on Sunday.
A 9-month-old tan female pitbull puppy and a 3-month-old gray and white male pitbull puppy valued at $200 were reportedly stolen from the backyard of a residence in the 400 block of Dogwood Drive between 7:30 p.m. on Sunday and midnight on Monday. The victim told officers that the dogs were chained in his backyard when he left his residence Sunday evening, according to an incident report from Sumter Police Department.
A black .380-caliber Lorcin handgun valued at $100 was reportedly stolen from a backpack that was on a bench at Dillon Park while the owner was practicing football about 6 p.m. on April 8.
Three orange and silver Husqvarna 450 chainsaws valued at about $400 each and a 20-pack of Niagra bottled water valued at about $4 were reportedly stolen from a store in the 1200 block of Broad Street about 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.
