Born on May 10, 1916, in Rhodhiss, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late James Ulrich Redmon and Cora Crawley Redmon. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was known for her love of art and enjoyed painting landscapes and old barns. She loved writing poetry and growing roses. Mildred was a member of the garden club in York for many years.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy B. Gardner (Paul) of Sumter and Diane B. Evans of Rock Hill; five grandchildren, Cindy G. James (William), Mark C. Gardner (Anne), Paula G. Ross (Henry), Terri K. Tores (Paul) and Kelly K. Tennyson (Don); eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Rose Hill Cemetery in York with the Rev. Dan Barber and the Rev. Charles Clanton officiating.
