PAWLEYS ISLAND - Kathryn Watson McElveen and Nicholas Joe Price, both of Sumter, were united in marriage at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at Pawleys Island Chapel.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Thomas McElveen Jr. and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Thomas McElveen and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Burke Watson, all of Sumter. She graduated in 2010 from Coker College with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. She is employed as a partner relations coordinator with The Columbia Chamber of Commerce.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Joe Price of Clio and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Henry Price of Dillon and the late Mr. and Mrs. Wacon Thurston Rogers of Lake View. He graduated in 2002 from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Turf Grass Management. He is employed as a golf course superintendent at Sunset Country Club in Sumter.
The Rev. Nicholas Theo Cheek, senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Sumter, officiated.
Music was provided by Lynn Auman, violinist; Dennis Gette, bagpipe drummer; William Nuttall, bagpiper; and Walter S. Wilson Jr., pianist.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a Romona Keveza ballgown made of silk shantung with an alencon lace overlay and featuring silk-covered buttons extending down the cathedral train. The gown was paired with a double-layer cathedral veil with an alencon-lace edge. She carried a hand-gathered, cascading bouquet of organic garden roses, peonies and lisianthus in whites and creams, with added pops of fuchsia and gradient shades of pink, and fresh herbs, seasonal evergreens and gray foliage including seeded eucalyptus.
Alex Margaret Richardson served as maid of honor, with Bronwyn Kelson McElveen as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Danielle Brooke Basham, Mary Elizabeth Bultman, Amanda Price Denton, Neelie Carol Rodgers, Emily Roddey Sawyer and Kathleen Welch Shaw. Adelaide Watson McElveen served as flower girl.
The bridegroom's father served as best man. Groomsmen were Jonathan David Denton, Travis Wayne Dowdy, Ralph Lee Herndon, Joseph Thomas McElveen III, William Holmes McLaurin, Ronald William Rice Jr. and Brian Daniel Wilkinson. Junior groomsmen were Josiah David Denton and Baxter Kenneth Denton.
Also participating were Anna Daniel McLaurin, Ann McDowell Calloway Prevost, Kathryn Lemmon Parker and Mary Grace Watson.
The bride's parents held the reception at DeBordieu Club in Georgetown.
The bridegroom's parents held the rehearsal party at Frank's Outback on Pawleys Island.
Following a wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple resides in Sumter.
