Manning City Council to discuss levying taxes

The Manning City Council will meet on Monday at 6:30 p.m. for first reading of an ordinance on raising revenue and levying taxes for the city.

The ordinance would amend the ordinance to raise revenue and levy taxes for the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2019.

Other agenda items for the regular council meeting, which will be in Council Chambers at Manning City Hall, 29 W. Boyce St., include the discussion of council appointments to boards. Those include the re-appointment of Peggy Knox to a term ending on June 30, 2022, on the planning commission; the filling of a vacant seat for an unexpired term on the planning commission ending June 30, 2022; the re-appointment of Ron Wall and Jerome Kindell to a term ending on June 30, 2022, on the Board of Appeals; and the re-appointment of Jason Montgomery to a term ending June 30, 2022, on the Municipal Grievance Committee.

Also, Mayor Julia Nelson will issue a proclamation for Bike Month, and the council will hear a presentation from Areatha Clark on the Santee-Lynches Regional Council of Governments Workforce Development.
