Man charged with domestic violence took victim's cellphone

Corey B. Owens, 18, of 3470 Widman Drive, was arrested on June 12 and charged with second degree domestic violence for allegedly hitting a woman in the mouth with a closed fist and choking her while in the 200 block of Livingston Street on June 7. According to a news release from Sumter County Sheriff's Office, Owens also took the victim's cellphone to prevent her from calling for help.

STOLEN PROPERTY

A black 9mm Springfield XD-S firearm valued at $500 was reportedly stolen from a 1997 Toyota Tacoma while it was parked in the 1300 block of Rockdale Boulevard between 1 and 4 a.m. on June 14.

A black .380-caliber Ruger LCP valued at $250; $20 in cash; two debit cards, no reported value; and identification documents, no reported value, were reportedly stolen from a 2002 Toyota Tacoma while it was parked in the one block of Dellwood Lane, Wedgefield, between 3:30 and 9:30 a.m. on June 14.

A maroon 2006 Ford Mustang sustained approximately $2,800 in damage while it was parked in the 6700 block of Broad Street, Wedgefield, between 6 and 9 p.m. on June 14.

A black .45-caliber Springfield firearm valued at $700; a black 9mm Springfield firearm valued at $700; a black .380-caliber Ruger firearm valued at $245; a brown 12-gauge Remington Wingmaster firearm valued at $350; a .22-caliber Remington firearm valued at $350; a black-and-gray safe, unknown make, valued at $150; $6,000 in cash; approximately $500 in antique coins; 12 vehicle titles valued at $120; and 10 rose gold dollars valued at $250 were reportedly stolen from a residence in the 2200 block of Bob White Drive between midnight and 2 p.m. on Sunday.

A black 43-inch Phillips Smart TV valued at $500; a black 32-inch TCL Smart TV valued at $400; and a black 7-inch iPad tablet valued at $800 were reportedly stolen from a residence in the 1100 block of Reedroman Road between 8 p.m. on Saturday and 1 a.m. on Sunday.

An white LG window air-conditioning unit valued at $500 was reportedly stolen from a residence in the 300 block of Enter Street between 10 a.m. and 2:40 p.m. on Sunday.

A burgundy 2005 Nissan Altima valued at $5,000 was reportedly stolen while it was parked at an apartment complex in the 100 block of Roxbury Court between 6 p.m. on June 13 and 10 p.m. on June 14.

A white 2013 Honda Civic valued at $12,500 was reportedly stolen while it was parked at an apartment complex in the 600 block of Dillon Trace between 11:40 a.m. on Friday and 6:15 a.m. on Saturday.

DAMAGED PROPERTY

Approximately $38,000 in damage was caused to a Ford F-150 Super Crew truck when the driver overturned the vehicle at the intersection of Dingle and Wright streets about 12:40 a.m. on June 11. According to an incident report from Sumter Police Department, a witness told officers that he saw a black Ford F-150 traveling at a high rate of speed on Dingle Street and saw four black males wearing white T-shirts and khaki pants leave the scene of the wreck in a silver Ford truck. Officers later received information that the victim reported the black Ford truck stolen after lending it to another person.
