According to a news release from Sumter County Sheriff's Office, Owens also took the victim's cellphone to prevent her from calling for help.

A white 2013 Honda Civic valued at $12,500 was reportedly stolen while it was parked at an apartment complex in the 600 block of Dillon Trace between 11:40 a.m. on Friday and 6:15 a.m. on Saturday.
Approximately $38,000 in damage was caused to a Ford F-150 Super Crew truck when the driver overturned the vehicle at the intersection of Dingle and Wright streets about 12:40 a.m. on June 11. According to an incident report from Sumter Police Department, a witness told officers that he saw a black Ford F-150 traveling at a high rate of speed on Dingle Street and saw four black males wearing white T-shirts and khaki pants leave the scene of the wreck in a silver Ford truck. Officers later received information that the victim reported the black Ford truck stolen after lending it to another person.
