Born on Nov. 19, 1948, in Sumter County, he was a son of Henry and Mary Washington Wilder Cooper. Lynwood attended the school for the blind in South Carolina. He joyfully accepted Christ as his personal Savior in his later years. Lynwood loved singing as well as spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by seven sisters, Margaret (John Livingston), Mary Lewis, Viola Crayton, Emily Avant, Lisa (Earnest Williams), Hattie Lee and Charlene Crump; six brothers, Samuel Cooper, Frank Cooper, Dennis Cooper, Elmer (Rosa Cooper), Isaac (Mary Cooper) and Scottie (Theresa Cooper); a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, the Sumter County Disabilities and Special Needs Board Staff, caregivers and friends.
The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 7001 Octon Road, Dalzell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with the Rev. William Jefferson officiating, eulogist.
The funeral procession will leave at 10:20 a.m. from the home.
Burial will be at Walker Cemetery.
