LILY P. WARD
Lily Pritchard Ward, 83, widow of Joseph Phillip "J.P." Ward Sr., died on Thursday, July 4, 2018, at her home.
Born on March 22, 1935, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Joseph "Joe" Thomas Pritchard and Lena Betts Pritchard. Mrs. Ward was a member of Crosswell Baptist Church. She retired from Korn Industries with 47 years of service.
Surviving are one son, Ronnie Ward of Sumter; one daughter, Linda Ward Ridgeway (Ray) of Sumter; five grandchildren, Kenneth Allen Avin Jr. (Rachel) of Ridgeway, Kevin Keith Avin (Tiffany), Barry Lynn Ward (Mellessa) and Danny Phillip Davis (Stephanie), all of Sumter; four great-grandchildren; and one stepdaughter, Phyllis Barrett of York.
She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Phillip "Phil" Ward Jr.; a grandson, Brian Kirby Ward; and four brothers, Herman, Gerald, Claude and Pete Pritchard.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Crosswell Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Owens officiating. Burial will be at Sumter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, 110 Mere Court.
