Lady Generals share region title with win

DALZELL – Thomas Sumter Academy’s varsity girls basketball team clinched a share of the SCISA Region II-2A title with a 36-24 victory over Northside Christian School on Monday at Edens Gymnasium.

Caetlyn Martin, one of eight seniors honored on Senior Night, led the Lady Generals with 12 points. Aubrey Stoddard had nine and Sydney Daniel added six.

TSA finished the regular season with a 19-7 record and went 11-1 in region play. It shares the region crown with Palmetto Christian.

MANNING – Manning High School defeated May River 52-46 in the first round of the 3A state playoffs on Monday at Thames Arena.

Mahogany Green led the 19-5 Lady Monarchs with 20 points. Measha Jones followed with 14 points and Ariyonia Busby added 12.

Chyna Reed led May River with 22 points.

Manning will be on the road against Dillon in a second-round game on Thursday at 7 p.m.

BISHOPVILLE – Scott’s Branch Middle School lost to Lee Central 46-42 in the Upper Pee Dee Conference boys basketball tournament championship game on Saturday at the LC gymnasium.

Tariq Coard led SB with 22 points. Randy Gibson added 12.
