Camp Happy Days, a camp for children with cancer and their siblings, is taking place at Camp Bob Cooper on Lake Marion through Sunday. It takes nearly 200 full-time counselors and 50 to 100 daytime volunteers to put on the camp, said Julia Passos, development and special events director for Camp Happy Days.

The camp offers the kids, many of whom have spent much of their time in doctors' offices and hospitals, a chance to have fun and mingle with other children who know what they are going through, Passos said.

"During the camp, they get to have so much fun," she said.

Nearly 300 kids are attending the camp, which is in its 26th year. Camp Happy Days is free to the children and their families and funded only through donations, Passos said.
