KATHRYN ANN ZACHARIAS

Kathryn Ann Wuerstle Zacharias, 79, beloved wife of the late James Francis Zacharias, died on June 18, 2018, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Born on Jan. 19, 1939, in Fredonia, New York, Kathryn was a daughter of the late James and Catherine McCraith Wuerstle. Kathryn wore many hats in the course of her life: wife, mother, grandmother, sister, educator, entrepreneur and devoted friend. She inspired everyone around her with her quick mind, unshakeable faith and indomitable spirit. Above all else, Kathryn was known for her big and adventurous heart. She loved life, dreamed big and worked hard to make those dreams come true.

Kathryn will be dearly missed by her children, Catherine Zacharias (Steve Wacksman), Anne Zacharias-Walsh (John Walsh), Rosie Zacharias Wessendorf (Jay Wessendorf), Paul Zacharias, Christopher Zacharias (Jeongmi Moon) and Stephen Zacharias (Lilian Busingye Zacharias); grandchildren, Nicolette (Wessendorf) Wright (Trevin Wright), Benjamin Wessendorf and Isaiah James Rukundo Zacharias; great-grandson, Jeremy Wright Jr.; sister, Beverly Vail; brothers, Thomas Wuerstle (Tomijean Wuerstle), James Wuerstle and Donald Wuerstle; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral mass will be held for Kathryn at 10 a.m. today at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 1529 Assembly St., Columbia, SC 29201.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Francis Springs Prayer Center, 477 Grogan Road, Stoneville, NC 27048, will be gratefully received.
