Funeral services for Deaconess Josephine Anthony Magazine will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 155 Wall St., Sumter, with Pastor Larry C. Weston officiating.

The public may view from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Palmer Memorial Chapel, 304 S. Main St., Sumter, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m.

Mrs. Magazine will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. for viewing until the hour of service.

Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park, Sumter.

The funeral processional will leave at 10 a.m. on Friday from the home of her niece, Gloria Smalls, 6 E. Hunter, Sumter.

Mrs. Magazine transitioned on Monday, June 18, 2018, at Sumter East Health Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Gregg and Bessie Rhodes Anthony and the widow of Deacon Henry Magazine Sr. Mrs. Magazine was formerly employed by Georgia Pacific Co., Sumter. She also assisted her husband in their family-owned business, the former "Henry's Tailor Shop."

Mrs. Magazine began her Christian experience at Melina Presbyterian Church in Sardinia. After moving to Sumter, she and her family became lifelong members of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. She served faithfully in many of her church auxiliaries including the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church Missionary Society, senior choir, pastor's aide, senior citizen's ministry and several more.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings and one great-grandchild.

Survivors include two daughters, Evangelist Shirley (Bishop John L.) Magazine-Ward, Tilly Magazine (Henry) Littles of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Henry Magazine III of Sumter; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
