Information on Paxville fatal shooting suspect sought

PAXVILLE - The Clarendon County Sheriff's Office is asking the public for information regarding a recent fatal shooting.

Around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, Clarendon County deputies were dispatched to a residence east of Paxville in reference to a shooting, according to the sheriff's office. Though several people were inside the home at the time of the shooting, no one was able to give deputies a description of the shooter, authorities said.

The Clarendon County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as Charles Lee Cummings. The sheriff's office said Cummings was shot in the chest and shoulder and died as a result of his injuries. Authorities have not released information on his age, last known residence or connections to the homeowner.

"This is a random act of violence. This incident was an isolated incident," the sheriff's office said in a Facebook post.

Authorities said that they are still looking into possible motives for the shooting.
