Funeral services for Harold Myers will be held at noon on Wednesday at Palmer Memorial Chapel, 304 S. Main St., Sumter, with Brother Wilbur Dyer officiating.

The public may view from 4 to 7 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday at Palmer Memorial Chapel.

Harold Myers, 71, transitioned on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia.

Born in Hemingway, he was a son of the late James and Virleen Hicks Myers. He was educated in the public schools of Georgetown and was a graduate of Choppee High School Class of 1966. After graduation, he moved to Bronx, New York, where he met his beloved wife, Brenda J. Smith. In 1977, they moved to the Sumter community and were blessed with two children, Brandon and Aprile. Harold was employed by Exide Battery, Turbeville Correctional Center and South Carolina Department of Transportation. He was a people person and no one was a stranger to him. Harold was also a car and motor enthusiast on and off the tracks and will be sincerely missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda; a son, Brandon (Bhumi) Myers of Charlotte, North Carolina; a daughter, Aprile Myers of Columbia; grandchildren, Kiaan, Bryce and Chase; brothers, William (Susie) Myers of Central Islip, New York, Jeffrey (Sonya) Williamson of Nakina, North Carolina, and Marion (Ruthie) Hutchinson of Hemingway; sisters, Blanche Myers of Bronx, Shirley Mitchell of New York City and Myrtle (Jimmie) Robinson of Cambria Heights, New York; and a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
