MONCKS CORNER - Lindsay Kate Griffin and William Rhett Beard were united in marriage at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Old Santee Canal Park.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Donald Griffin of Sumter and the granddaughter of Mrs. June Robertson Murphy of Florence and the late Edward Murphy and the late Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ralph Griffin. She graduated from the College of Charleston in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Middle School Education. She is employed as a middle school math teacher at Haut Gap Middle School in Charleston.

The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Linda Beard Kennedy of Sumter and the late Thurmon Dargan Beard and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William David Tomlinson Sr. and the late Ruby Barfield Beard and the late Ivy Dargan Beard. He graduated from Central Carolina Technical College in 2007 with an Associate Degree in Environmental Engineering Technology. He is employed with the Town of Sullivan's Island Water and Sewer Department.

The Rev. Thomas Brown officiated.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a white ballgown with a crystal-encrusted bodice and a chapel train complemented by a tiered mid-length veil with a beaded stitched edge. She carried a bouquet of dusty miller, eucalyptus silver dollar, magnolia leaves, white lisianthus, white mums and Tibet roses tied with a vintage gold ribbon.

Kayla Marie Hanson served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Kaitlyn Elizabeth Russell, sister of the bride, and Lola Katherine Beard, sister of the bridegroom. Olivia Beard, daughter of the bridegroom, served as flower girl.

Walter Thurmon Beard, brother of the bridegroom, served as best man. Groomsman was Brandon Hunter Griffin, brother of the bride.

The bride's parents held the reception at Old Santee Canal Park.

The bridegroom's mother held the rehearsal party at The Warren Room in Charleston.

Following a wedding trip to Tulum, Mexico, the couple will reside in Charleston.
