GLORIA BELL DURANT

Gloria Bell DuRant, 94, wife of Dr. Eddie C. DuRant Sr., died peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, at her home, "Shudwe" farm.

Born on Nov. 11, 1923, in Miami, she was a daughter of the late Robert Bryan Bell and Marian Bell Bell. Mrs. DuRant, "GoGo" as she was known by her grandchildren, was a member of Wedgefield Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Junior Welfare League and served as its first treasurer. She was also a member of the Cotillion and the Sumter Assembly. She enjoyed dancing, swimming, boating, water skiing and bowling. In addition, she was an avid horse woman, hunter and fisher woman. She was a member of the Possy Cats Trail Club and was a very accomplished seamstress.

Surviving are her husband of 74 years of Sumter; two sons, Dr. Eddie "Skip" DuRant Jr. (Annette) of Wedgefield and E. Bryan DuRant Sr. (Beth) of Sumter; a daughter, Glise Earnhardt (Mike) of Wedgefield; a sister, Patricia Bartlett Fuller of Helen, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Dana Ferguson (Luke), Dixie DuRant, Delta DuRant, Bryanne DuRant, Brookelyn Pugh (Christian), Hunter DuRant Jr., Eddy Hyder (Brian) and Michael Earnhardt (Lisa); and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Marian McCann.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Wedgefield Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jody Foster officiating.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Mae Willis, Carrie Jackson and Agape Hospice for the compassionate care given Mrs. DuRant.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wedgefield Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, in care of James Hugh Ryan, 6525 Ravine Lane, Wedgefield, SC 29168 or to a charity of one's choice.
