SCRANTON - Emily Valeda Floyd, 75, of Scranton, passed away on Monday, Aug. 6, 2018.

Mrs. Floyd was born in Charleston, a daughter of the late Francis Eugene Wells and Bessie Mae Anderson. She retired from The Dental Team of Sumter after 19 years of employment. Mrs. Floyd was a faithful and active member of Grace and Glory Ministries for many years, before transferring her membership to Christian Fellowship Pentecostal Holiness Church in Scranton, where she continued to serve in many capacities. Mrs. Floyd had many passions, including a love for painting, quilting, knitting, cooking and baking, flowers, birds and visiting the beach. Most of all, she longed for and cherished every moment spent with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her birth parents; her adopted parents, Mr. and Mrs. Brown; her husband, Edwyn "Ed" Floyd; and her brother, Eugene "Gene" Wells.

Surviving are her sons, Dan (Carol) Nesbitt of Sumter, John (Kim) Nesbitt of Apex, North Carolina, and Valeda (Joe) Hogeland of Burlington, Iowa; sisters, Peggy (Richard) Smith of Sumter and Tina (Charles) Smith and Debra (Mitch) Dowdle, both of Charleston; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Arlene "Honey" Wells; her very special friends, Polly Fryer, and Jerry and Laurie LaPalme; and her nieces and nephews.

A memorial celebration will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Christian Fellowship Pentecostal Holiness Church, 908 Casselman Road, Scranton, SC 29591.
