A driver is dead after she was ejected from a vehicle while traveling on Royer Road in Lee County Saturday night, according to state law enforcement officials.

Lee County Coroner Larry Logan identified the deceased as Debra Ross, 57, of Bishopville.

Lance Cpl. Matt Southern with South Carolina Highway Patrol said the wreck occurred at 11:14 p.m. near Walnut Road and Ross' vehicle was the only one involved in the wreck.

Ross was traveling north bound on Royer Road in a 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac when the vehicle went off the left side of the road, he said.

Southern said Ross overcorrected to the right and "the driver was subsequently ejected from the vehicle."

Ross sustained fatal injuries as a result of being ejected, he said.

This wreck is still under investigation.
