Crestwood High student specifies teachers, student to kill in anonymous note

Yet another school in Sumter County has been on the receiving end of a rumor, prank or threat of potential violence since a deadly mass shooting at a high school in Florida.
An anonymous note was found at Crestwood High School on Wednesday that threatened several teachers and one student, according to Ken Bell, public information officer for Sumter County Sheriff's Office.
The note, which was found on a student's desk, said, "kill ya ppl today at 1:15" and "ima kill all ya peoples at this school," according to an incident report from the sheriff's office.
"She then began to list out several different teachers on her target list. It was also stated that it will be (12) twelve victims, two per hall, and she would not stop until they all were dead," according to the report.
A bullet was then found on Thursday on a door frame leading to the school gymnasium in a place "where it is certain to be found."
Bell said a janitor later admitted she found the bullet in the trash on Wednesday and placed it on the door but forgot to notify officials at the school on Oswego Road.
"Individuals who are identified for making this threat will face disciplinary action in accordance with the Sumter School District Code of Conduct, and law enforcement will file charges," Galloway said. "Our first and most important priority is the safety of our students and staff. We take all potential threats very seriously."
Galloway said law enforcement was "quick and vigilant" in its response.
"Although we still do not believe this is a credible threat, we have placed additional officers at the school as a proactive preventative approach," Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis said.
The sheriff's office is investigating the note.
School officials notified law enforcement "as soon as the note and bullet were found."
"Unfortunately, some of the students think this is a joke. We had the same kinds of things happening around the country after the Columbine High School shooting," Dennis said. "I don't understand it.
"Whoever is making these threats will face serious charges once they are identified."
This threat marks the third such incident and the fourth in The Sumter Item's coverage area since the day a 19-year-old man walked onto the campus he had been expelled from at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Feb. 14 and opened fire with an AR-15, killing 17.
On Feb. 16, rumors circulated at Sumter High School that "something was going to happen at 2:20" based on unverified social media posts that did not pose a real danger to students or staff.
Then, on Monday, a 13-year-old girl was identified as the student who wrote on the seventh-grade girls' bathroom floor at Chestnut Oaks Middle School that she would "shoot the school down." That threat was also not considered as viable.
The girl will be petitioned to Family Court.
It was announced on Tuesday that Manning High School received calls from two students threatening violence. Clarendon County Sheriff Tim Baxley said at the time the calls were rumors and conversations that had gone too far.
