LEBANON, Ohio - Colleen Martin Hoskins, 79, of Lebanon, died on Friday, Sept. 28, 2018.

She was born on Nov. 1, 1938, in New Marshfield, Ohio, to Albert Edward and Adah Llewellyn Virgene Martin.

Preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dan Hoskins, she is survived by her loving children, Sean Hoskins of Sumter and Kara (Brad) O'Donnell of Lebanon; one brother, Kevin (Carol Patterson) Martin of Athens, Ohio; one grandson, James Patrick O'Donnell; her nephews, Matthew Martin and Benjamin Martin; and a large extended family.

She worked as a registered nurse for 50 years, including serving as a nurse manager at The Gebhardt Oncology Center at Fort Hamilton Hospital, where she was the first nurse to receive oncology nurse certification. She was the coordinator and instructor for the I Can Cope classes for cancer patients and, in recognition of her work in oncology, she received the Nurse of Hope Award from the American Cancer Society. As a member of the American Cancer Society, Colleen represented the counties of Butler, Preble and Warren on the board of the American Cancer Society of Ohio. She was a member of the American Nursing Association, Oncology Nursing Society and the Greater Cincinnati Coalition for Cancer Research. Colleen graduated with a nursing degree from the Jewish Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati and with a Bachelor of Science from Miami University.

Colleen was a devout Christian and a member of West Elkton United Methodist Church. She served on the church's board of directors and as the education chairman. Colleen was a member of the United Methodist Women and the choir, taught an adult leadership class and worked with social outreach. She also attended Lebanon Presbyterian Church. Colleen was a past member of the board of directors of the Preble County Senior Citizens and was an active member of the Warren County Senior Citizens and the 741 Senior Center.

Colleen enjoyed singing, playing the piano and organ, and listening to all types of music, especially her grandson's band. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and needlepoint, as well as cooking for her family. Colleen also enjoyed camping and traveling with her family and friends, and she liked playing cards and board games of any kind.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. today at West Elkton United Methodist Church, State Route 503, West Elkton, OH 45070. Interment will immediate follow at Fairmound Cemetery in West Elkton.
