MANNING - The Azalea Garden Club of Manning did its part in celebrating National Garden Week, June 3 through 9, by designing and delivering 40 floral arrangements to businesses throughout the Manning area on Monday.

Along with thousands of garden clubs across the country, the Azalea Garden Club of Manning strives to promote the National Garden Club objectives of beautification, education of environmental efforts, gardening and involvement of garden clubs in local communities.

Delivering their lovely arrangements to businesses throughout Manning is an annual event that the Azalea Garden Club members are proud to do. The event showcases their talents while adding some charm to the businesses.

Last week, Azalea Garden Club members Marie Land and Sara Ann Aycock shared their talents by preparing several beautiful floral arrangements for the Manning High School Baccalaureate Service and for MHS' Senior Award Night.

"We like to use a variety of flowers in our arrangements," Aycock said as she designed the podium arrangement for the Baccalaureate Service. "We use tall greenery to add height to arrangements, and you use heavier flowers toward the bottom."

Land said most of the flowers the pair used in their arrangements came from their own gardens.

"We just cut what we think will look good," Land said as she designed several floral arrangements for Weldon's lobby and stage area. "It's all about what looks good now."
