Members met on April 19 at the home of Liz Wild. A business meeting was held after lunch. Libby Singletary thanked everyone for supporting United Ministries. She asked members to participate in "Baby Bottle Boomerang" by filling baby bottles with loose change during the summer. Money collected will be donated to Sumter Pregnancy Center when meetings resume.
Founder's Day was held on April 27 at Carolina Skies Club on Shaw Air Force Base. The Golden Circle ceremony was held for Carolyn Hudson who has been a member of Beta Sigma Phi for 50 years. Margaret Dougherty was selected as chapter Woman of the Year.
A business meeting was held on May 3 at the home of Toni Burkhart. New officers were installed for the next sorority year. The last business meeting of the year was held at the home of Mary Ann Clark on May 17. A potluck luncheon was enjoyed. Secret Sister gifts were exchanged and new names drawn for next year. Mary Ann was selected to receive the Congeniality Award. Members joined together with husbands and guests at The Schoolhouse Restaurant in Scranton for an end-of-year get together.
A July party will be scheduled to celebrate the chapter's birthday. Business meetings are suspended until September. Beginning Day for both area chapters will be held in August, hosted by Xi Eta.
