Library hosts Meet the Author and Book Signing

MANNING - The Harvin Clarendon Library, 215 N. Brooks St., is hosting a Meet the Author and Book Signing at noon Saturday for Jim McKnight, author of "My Story of a Sharecropper's Life," the story of Willie Holliday Sr., a Clarendon County sharecropper who lived in three centuries and died in 2004 as America's oldest living man. All invited to the Coach Gibson Alumni Game

MANNING - The Coach Premuel Gibson Alumni Scholarship Game will be held Saturday at Manning High School. The first game will tip off at 1:30 p.m. with the second game beginning at 3 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students.

DuckFest events will be 2 Saturdays in October

SUMMERTON - The Duck Capital of South Carolina, Summerton, will host DuckFest on Oct. 6 and Oct. 13. On Oct. 6, the festival will feature the DuckFest Fall Open Bass Tournament and The Duck Cup Sporting Clays Tournament.

Register now for Real Talk Women's Conference

MANNING - The Master's Place Ministries is presenting the 2018 Real Talk Women's Conference at 9 a.m. Oct. 13 at F.E. DuBose Career Center, 3351 Sumter Highway, Manning. The event host will be Pastor Rosa W. Fulton. Dr. Alice Ridgill will be a guest speaker.

Plan now for The Art of Fly Fishing Workshop

SUMMERTON - A two-day fly fishing workshop will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 12 and 13 at Taw Caw Park, 7212 Wash Davis Road, Summerton.

The event which is sponsored by the Town of Summerton-4 Main, Simpson ACE Hardware and Sports, Ray's Tractors, Clarendon Auto Parts and Dixie Auto Parts, will be run by the Carolina Fly Fishing Club. Inaugural Teacher's Ball proceeds go to supplies

MANNING - The 1865 Reading Academy is presenting the Inaugural Teacher's Ball at 7 p.m. on Oct. 20 at The Matrix Center, 4648 Kingstree Highway. Advance tickets for the ball are $50 per couple and $30 for individual tickets.

Proceeds from the ball will go toward school supplies for teachers and the academy. The attire for the evening will be formal.

Paw Howl-O-Ween 5K and Family Fun Run Fundraiser

SUMMERTON - For the Love of a Paw, a nonprofit animal rescue organization in Elloree, has partnered with Santee Hardware and Santee Cooper Resort and Country Club to host a new 5K race and kids' run to raise money for and awareness of the need to manage the domestic animal population in Orangeburg and Calhoun counties.
