On Nov. 13, six high school students represented Clarendon Hall at the South Carolina Independent School Association High School Chess Tournament held at Sumter County Civic Center: from left, seated, are Logan Hinman and Gabriel Collier; standing, Michael Josey, Nickolas Pierce, Henik Matarwala and Jonathan O'Quinn. The meet had 20 schools and 139 students participate. Clarendon Hall finished seventh, and Henik Matarwala placed 20 out of 139 with the highest individual score on the Saints Team. Headmaster Phillip Rizzo Jr. commented, "Our group features some of the brightest high school ladies and gentlemen in the state. A chess team is another one of the many opportunities we provide for our students to excel. We are small, student focused institution, and we have arts, athletics and extracurricular activities for challenging and producing well-rounded children."
