Harvin Clarendon County Library closes for Labor Day

MANNING - Harvin Clarendon County Library will be closed on Monday in observance of Labor Day. For more information, call the library at (803) 435-8633.

Chamber of Commerce dinner will be on Thursday

MANNING - The Clarendon County Chamber of Commerce will host its annual awards dinner at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at The Matrix Center, 4648 Kingstree Highway.

Entertainment for the dinner will be presented by comedian Mike Goodwin. Tickets are $40 per person and can be purchased at the Chamber office, 19 N. Brooks St.

Clarendon County Job Fair, career workshop available

MANNING - Central Carolina Technical College is hosting a Job Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 13 at the F.E. DuBose Career campus, 3351 Sumter Highway. This is a great opportunity to meet with notable companies that make a significant impact on the Clarendon County workforce and many of South Carolina's largest employers.

Recruiters from Central Carolina Technical College will also be available. If you need resume or interview help, you can attend a career workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the F.E. New Covenant Presbyterian Church Revival coming up

MANNING - The New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2833 Alex Harvin Highway, is hosting "Time for Awakening" at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 16-19. The featured speaker for the revival will be John Black. The revival is being sponsored by New Covenant and Emmanuel Baptist churches. Dinner will be served in the New Covenant Fellowship Hall at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 16 and Sept. 17. Everyone is invited to attend.

All invited to the Coach Gibson Alumni Game

MANNING - The Coach Premuel Gibson Alumni Scholarship Game will be held on Sept. 29 at Manning High School. The first game will tip off at 1:30 p.m. with the second game beginning at 3 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students.

DuckFest events will be 2 Saturdays in October

SUMMERTON - The Duck Capital of South Carolina, Summerton, will host DuckFest on Oct. 6 and Oct. 13. On Oct. 6, the festival will feature the DuckFest Fall Open Bass Tournament and The Duck Cup Sporting Clays Tournament. On Oct. 13, a 5K Color Run and Fun Duck Run will be held along with a Meat Calling Contest, a cook-off, a concert and lots more. Inaugural Teacher's Ball proceeds go to supplies

MANNING - The 1865 Reading Academy is presenting the Inaugural Teacher's Ball at 7 p.m. on Oct. 20 at The Matrix Center, 4648 Kingstree Highway. Advance tickets for the ball are $50 per couple and $30 for individual tickets. Proceeds from the ball will go toward school supplies for teachers and the academy.
