Charlie Gaymon, 87, was called by God home to rest on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Born Jan. 3, 1931, in Wilmington, North Carolina, he was the son of Marion and Rosa White Gaymon. He met and married the late Daisy "Blanch" Gaymon.

At an early age, he became a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, where he was a faithful member of the trustee board and steward board.

He leaves to cherish his memory: two children, Marion (Mary L) of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Barbara Jean (George) Jenkins of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; a daughter-in-law, Linda Gaymon of Newark, New Jersey; nine grandchildren; a sister, Daisy Lee Jefferson of Bridgeport, Connecticut; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. from the Bethel A.M.E. Church, 19 E. Calhoun St., Sumter, with the Rev. Davie Brown, Pastor, eulogist.

The family will receive relatives and friends Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, 5-6 p. m. in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter. The funeral procession will leave at 10:20 a.m. from Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter.

Burial will be in the Bradford Cemetery.
