There is a new dean of Business and Public Service at Central Carolina Technical College.

Pam Dinkins was named as the new dean after she had been serving as interim dean since February 2017.

"Central Carolina Technical College is all about changed lives," Dinkins said. "We offer each student a high-quality education and the opportunity for growth in a cost-efficient and engaging environment. I am delighted to serve the college and our communities in a different role as we reach into the future to bring new ideas and technologies to the ever-changing world of education."

Dinkins began teaching as an adjunct instructor for the Early Childhood Development Program at CCTC in 1994 and later became the program manager in 1998. Since that time, she has worked to create and maintain a rigorous and practical program that enables students to pursue a variety of job opportunities as well as opportunities to transfer to four-year institutions, according to a news release from the college. In 2001, the program was among the first 20 in the nation to achieve national accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

"Pam Dinkins has been an extraordinary department chair for the college's Early Childhood program and will now bring a wealth of experience to benefit the entire Business and Public Service division."

Dinkins has a bachelor's and master's degree in education from the University of South Carolina. She has been a recipient of the E.C. "Red" Kneece Faculty Excellence Award and the Central Carolina Faculty of the Year for the South Carolina Technical Education Standards. She has facilitated training opportunities locally and around the state and is a member of several professional organizations.

She is married and has four children and six grandchildren.
