Ribbon-cutting ceremonies will be held at the stores at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, and the first 50 shoppers entering each store on Friday and Saturday will receive a reusable shopping bag filled with tasty treats from Big Lots.
All six stores - two others in Columbia, one in West Columbia, one in Camden and one in Orangeburg - will reflect a new format with a company-wide goal to "re-position the brand as a community retailer offering trustworthy value and friendly service."
The company will also kick off a donation program benefiting Homeless No More. Big Lots will donate $5 to the organization each time a BIG Rewards loyalty member redeems a reward in the stores over a six-week period through Dec. 8.
The six participating stores are:
- 1121 Broad St., Sumter, SC 29150
- 9221 Two Notch Road, Columbia
- 3230 Augusta Road, West Columbia
- 2209 West Dekalb St., Camden
- 1371 Chestnut St., Orangeburg
- 6169 St. Andrews Road, Columbia
