Beverly Jean Campbell Rogers, wife of retired Staff Sgt. John Rogers Jr., departed this life on Friday, May 18, 2018, at Sumter Health & Rehab Center. She was born on Oct. 17, 1951, in Sumter, to the late Lorraine Campbell.

She was a former member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church and sang on the Rev. Dr. T.O. Everette Jubilee Choir. Jean worked for Attorney Paul (Margaret) Held for many years. Jeans was very devoted to her family and church family until her health failed. She loved to sing, especially her favorite song, "Just a few things."

Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory are: her husband, John Rogers; a beloved daughter, Teaca Canty of Columbia; a grandson, Gregory Jackson, of Sumter; devoted cousins (whom she called sister and brother), Jacqueline Hunt and Jimmy Lee James of Sumter; a devoted sister-in-law, Lillie (Larry) Wilson, of Sumter; two brothers-in-law, Edmond (Margaret) Rogers of Baltimore, Maryland, and Jimmie (Cecelia) Rogers of Charleston; a special niece, Lenora (Robert Fore) Wilson of Sumter; special cousins, Barbara (Lafayette) Armstrong, Cleveland Durant and William (Julia) Ballard, all of Sumter, and Deloris Holmes of Columbia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jean was preceded in death by her daughter, Rozeena Campbell; a special aunt (whom she called Momma), Mary Campbell McCleary; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and William Maw Rogers Sr.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229.

Family will receive friends at the home of her sister, Jacqueline Hunt, 29 Brand St.
