Deacon Albert Jenkins, 82, departed this life on Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, at Sumter Health and Rehabilitation.

Born on Oct. 22, 1936, in Lee County, he was a son of the late Bertha Jenkins Wilson. He was educated in the public schools of Lee County. In his youth, he attended Joshua Baptist Church. Albert was a member of the Twelve Tribes of Israel. Later in life, he moved to Winter Park, Florida, to obtain work. While residing in Florida, he accepted Jesus Christ and joined Mount Moriah Baptist Church, where he was ordained as a deacon. He was employed at Hollers Chevrolet Dealer when he retired.

His memories will continue to live on in his siblings, two sisters, Thelma Vaughn of Dalzell and Alva Mae (Johnny) Martin of Sumter; two brothers, Minister James H. (the Rev. Jannette) Jenkins and James Aurthur (Louise) Jenkins, both of Sumter; one sister-in-law, Mildred Mathew of Philadelphia; a special niece, Jessie Bertty of Belton; 15 additional nieces; a special nephew, Cleveland Jenkins of Orlando, Florida; 12 additional nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Alva Mae and Johnny Martin, 2690 Yank Haven Drive, Sumter.

Homegoing celebration will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Joshua Baptist Church, 5200 Live Oak Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. Eugene G. Dennis, pastor, eulogist.

The procession will leave at 10:20 a.m. from the home.
