Loyal Wayne Thompson, 57, of Sumter, was arrested and charged Thursday with one count of sexual exploitation of a minor, second degree, according to a news release from the office of South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson.
Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigators with the Sumter County Sheriff's Office made the arrest. Investigators with the Attorney General's Office, also a member of the state's ICAC Task Force, assisted with the investigation.
According to the release, Thompson distributed child pornography. The felony offense Thompson is charged with is punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment.
The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office.
