21 year old admits to throwing child off deck

Kingwood Carrell Smith Jr., 21, of 276 Pioneer Drive, Sumter, was arrested and charged on Sunday with unlawful neglect of a child or helpless person by Sumter County Sheriff's Office. According to a news release from the sheriff's office, the warrant states that on Thursday at a residence in the 200 block of Pioneer Drive, a witness reported seeing Smith drag the minor child across the floor by his feet. Smith later admitted to throwing the child off a wooden deck. The child reportedly suffered a broken wrist and dislocated shoulder.

Smith was arrested and charged on Monday with criminal sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 16. The warrant states that on Friday at a residence in the 200 block of Pioneer Drive, Smith reportedly engaged in sexual battery with a female victim.
