The man with whom a 15-year-old girl Sumter ran away last week has been charged in connection to the search for the girl.

Michael Trevon King, 18, of Concord Circle, was arrested on Wednesday after he turned himself in, according to Ken Bell, public information officer for the Sumter County Sheriff's Office. He has been charged with obstructing justice.

A warrant states King made false and misleading statements to law enforcement officers between April 19 and April 21 in reference to the whereabouts of the girl, Bell said in a news release.

He was arrested on April 25 after a warrant was issued on April 23.

This is currently no bond information or a booking photo in the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center inmate records.
